Mission critical OLTP applications moving towards enterprise-wide,client/server computing are in need of two fundamental components:
TPBroker is an object-oriented transaction processing system based on the Object Transaction Service (OTS) specified by OMG (Object Management Group).
TPBroker is the result of convergence of technologies from two companies - INPRISE Corporation and Hitachi, the former specializing in communications infrastructures and the latter on transaction processing systems.
TPBroker allows gradual migration of applications towards enterprise-wide computing by preserving co-existence with legacy client and server applications using X/Open's DTP model.
Through the use of X/Open XA interfaces TPBroker provides connectivity to commercial databases - relational and object-oriented (e.g. Oracle, DB2).
Standard OMG compliant transaction processing system allows interoperability and connectivity to other ORB and OTS based applications.
Easy to use APIs conforming to OMG'S OTS Specification allowing fast deployment of TP Applications.
Support for wide range of platforms including PCs, midrange and large high-end servers.
TPBroker provides the flexibility of using any number of clients or server nodes.
It is light enough to run on PC clients and powerful enough to address all requirements and load of servers. Platforms supported will include Windows 95, Windows NT, most flavors of UNIX, and other operating systems.
